How much does AI customer service for Shopify actually cost?

Between €99 and €499 per month, flat, if the AI is the product. Or $300 to $2,500+ per month at the same ticket volume if you’re paying per AI resolution on top of a helpdesk plan. The difference isn’t the AI. It’s the pricing model.

The three pricing models

Every support tool for Shopify prices one of three ways:

  • Per seat (Re:amaze: $29–$69 per team member per month). Cheap software, but humans do the work, and the AI add-on runs $0.85 per resolution past a small quota.
  • Per ticket plus per AI resolution (Gorgias: plans from $60 to $900 by ticket volume, then $1.00 for every conversation the AI resolves). Per their own billing docs, an AI-resolved conversation is billed as both an AI interaction and a helpdesk ticket.
  • Flat fee, AI included (Repley: €99/€229/€499 by conversation volume; Commslayer takes a similar flat approach for its helpdesk). One number, no meter.

The math at 1,000 conversations a month

Take a store doing 1,000 support conversations a month with 60% resolved automatically, a normal ratio for order-status-heavy inboxes. Priced from public pricing pages on 6 July 2026:

  • Gorgias: ≈ $940/month (Pro-level plan + 600 AI resolutions at $1.00, each also consuming a ticket).
  • Re:amaze: ≈ $560/month (two Basic seats + ~590 metered AI resolutions at $0.85).
  • Repley: €229/month, flat. The AI work is what the fee buys, not an add-on: drafting, citations, sentiment scoring, escalation.

The pattern holds at every volume: the meter grows with exactly the thing you want more of. Automate more, pay more.

Why flat pricing matters most in Q4

BFCM triples ticket volume on the exact night nobody is awake. On metered pricing, that’s a tripled AI bill arriving in December. On flat pricing, peak season draws on the conversations you already bought, and past them a per-conversation overage you can see coming (Repley alerts at 80% of your limit).

The honest summary: if you want software for a support team, per-seat tools are cheap. If you want the support done, buy the work itself, flat.
